Copper concentration depends on food; therefore, accurate determination requires a sensitive analytical method and freedom from contamination. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) Euro FIR Method Indicators MI1209 are the reliable methods preceded by wet digestion MI1018 or pressure digestion .
Method features are described in [file://insarj/shares/DAN/UR/URMR/EuroFIR%20Nexus/GAMA/ISO%20118852007%20-%20Water%20quality%20--%20Determination%20of%20selected%20elements%20by%20inductively%20coupled%20plasma%20optical%20emission%20spectrometry%20(ICP-OES).mht ISO 11885: 2007] Water quality -- Determination of selected elements by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), [file://insarj/shares/DAN/UR/URMR/EuroFIR%20Nexus/GAMA/ISO%2017294-22003%20-%20Water%20quality%20--%20Application%20of%20inductively%20coupled%20plasma%20mass%20spectrometry%20(ICP-MS)%20--%20Part%202%20Determination%20of%2062%20elements.mht ISO 17294:2003]: Water quality -- Application of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) -- Part 2: Determination of 62 elements, EN 14084:2003 Foodstuffs - Determination of trace elements - Determination of lead, cadmium, zinc, copper and iron by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) after microwave digestion, EN 14082:2003 Foodstuffs - Determination of trace elements - Determination of lead, cadmium, zinc, copper, iron and chromium by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) after dry ashing.
